Wayne Westwood

Wayne developed an interest in painting at the age of ten when he received a book by the internationally known wildlife artist Raymond Harris Ching, and the AA British Book of Birds. It was at this time he decided he wanted to be an artist when he grew up.

He is a self-taught artist with no formal training. He has supplemented his income by doing various jobs including picture framing, making stained glass windows and farm work.

Wayne suffered a serious heart attack at the age of 27 which completely changed his life. After he recovered, painting consumed his time and energy and he developed his artistic talent. As a full-time professional artist he quickly became a leading wildlife painter with sell-out exhibitions.

He has also developed his technique to pursue his love of painting still life. His fine attention to detail allows him to produce work of the highest calibre. All of his still life work is painted from compositions set up in his studio.

He has had work published and had various articles in wildlife and art magazines including Birds Illustrated and Countryman’s Weekly.

His hobbies include fly fishing, photography and walking. He now lives in rural Wales where he gains much of his inspiration and reference.

z Artist Information
Ken McKieOriginally from Northumberland Ken McKie spent some years as an illustrator in London before making his home in South Yorkshire. Married to the children’s writer Anne McKie they have worked together writing and illustrating children’s books for almost 30 years. With over 300 books to their credit they are one of the most prolific writer/illustrator partnerships in the world. They have two daughters, Sophie who lives in Australia and Lucy, a portrait painter.

Ken now concentrates on painting full time. In addition to his still life work he is also well known as an equestrian and dog painter, (see links). The years as an illustrator have given Ken a great range of artistic skills, and the ability to get emotion into his pictures, be it the power and energy of a racehorse or the serene beauty of simple objects in a still life. Ken McKie brings a lifetime of observation and understanding into every picture he paints.

Bill Jones

Bill was born in Lancashire and studied graphic design and fine art at Bolton College of Art and Design. He has shown his work widely since his first exhibition in 1971. For many years he painted exclusively in watercolours, and built up a good reputation for his landscapes and local views.

More recently he has developed techniques in pastel painting, with various subjects from Scottish coastal scenes to sunsets and Venice studies.

He enjoys constantly tackling new subjects and has therefore become a very versatile painter, something that his many clients seem to appreciate.

Steven Jones

Born in 1959, Steven spent most of his early childhood in Llysfaen, a small, idyllic village in the hills of North Wales. An ideal place for an artist to grow up and the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape inspired him to sketch and paint. By the age of 10, he had won his first national painting competition.

In 1975, he began studying at Wrexham Art College, and was lucky to be taught by one of the best artists in Wales, Keith Bowen.

He then spent 4 years in London working as a freelance illustrator and was very fortunate to work with one of Britain’s best illustrators, Mike Vaughan. Steven became disillusioned with the illustration business and in 1985, he moved back to work as an artist in North Wales. He concentrated on painting in oils after being inspired by the French Impressionists and the Newlyn artists. These paintings proved to be very popular and sold in local art galleries and also in Fine Art auctions in Bonhams, Christies and Sothebys.

News : NEW David Renshaw & Nigel Cooke Originals

Breeze Art Gallery is delighted to have a number of new originals from both David Renshaw and Nigel Cooke.

David Renshaw

Building on the success of David’s recent visit to our Glasgow gallery in May, we are delighted to offer these pieces which include two new still life pieces which can be seen below. David loved painting from an early age and his passion for art led him to work in a local art gallery as a picture framer. Surrounded by different types of work he gained the inspiration which led him to begin producing his own work. David now concentrates on his art full time and we are delighted to be able to hang his work across our galleries. Alongside these wonderful still life originals our collection also includes many of his outstanding sunset pieces including “Reflections at Sunset” and “Tuscany Scene I”.

Nigel Cooke

Nigel Cooke’s new collection of cityscape originals has proved to be popular amongst art collectors. Hanging in all our galleries the collection includes the european cityscapes of Paris and Amsterdam, whilst not forgetting two originals of the Forth Road Bridge, “Under the Arches” and “Forth Railroad Crossing”. These originals have taken the market by storm as cityscape collectors simply love his work! Each of these pieces are framed in a stunning high gloss black frame with a cream inner slip which compliment the pieces.
