Mandy Thomson

Mandy Thomson is a self taught artist from the East Coast of Scotland. She was born and raised in Port Seton, and is now settled in North Berwick with her husband and three children. She has always lived by the sea, which provides a constant source of inspiration. She has spent her whole life drawing, although she has only worked professionally since 2012. During that time, she has exhibited locally and online, and her work has sold well throughout the UK and internationally. Mandy has always been drawn towards people and animals, and successfully established herself as a commission portrait artist, mainly working in pencil and pastel. In recent years she discovered the unusual medium of ink and bleach, and with it found her love of depicting inspiring local scenes, particularly of the islands around her home. She has developed her own unique style of working, mainly with a very limited palette, working dark to light. She loves the unpredictability of ink and bleach, and the magical results which it produces. Looking to the future, she is excited about combining it with other media as her work progresses and evolves.
