It’s his Mississippi gambler look. He has come to look like a character in his mid 70s classic “Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts”…. don’t you think? The narrative snaired me on first listening all those years ago, and I’m still deeply involved in the plot of that song every time I hear it. It’s so simple, so fluid and so easy to dismiss as kid’s stuff, but I love the rhyming, the imagery, the mood.
If ever a photo married to verse, this must be it.
