It’s great that entertainers can look like this… he’s my father-in-law to a T! Grumpy old Van has seldom looked grumpier, and that’s the charm of it. He’s the man for youthful nostalgia, and nobody in contemporary music has traced his upbringing more reflectively than Van. The only time I saw him was brilliant but alarmingly short. He did 40 minutes before having to exit with a raging hangover, or so the craik would have it. Straightforward watercolour with minimal pencil.
