Self taught, landscape artist ged mitchell, was born in manchester in 1956 and is now based in cheshire. he began painting for the first time in 1979 and it quickly became his passion. this was eventually matched by a healthy interest and demand for his watercolours by the general public and local galleries, culminating in a life changing decision to become a professional artist in 1985. what started as a long and at times challenging journey has resulted in a successful and rewarding career doing what he loves most with work in collections throughout the uk, europe and the usa. his preferred medium is watercolour, but he also works in acrylic on canvas. Silver birch trees have been a great inspiration since the early days and continue to feature today, becoming something of a "trade mark". He also enjoys painting the beautiful landscapes of the lake district.
