"My Paintings are influenced by many things; from studying natural forms, by enjoying walks through woodlands and spending time by the sea and also by me experience of different countries and cultures, especially Japan and Italy where I spent a few years of my life living and working.... more
I have strived to capture the energy of these subjects through the use of expressive brushstrokes and imaginative colour. Although my paintings start with a reference to a place, an object or a photograph, there always comes a point in my creative process where I find it essential to let go, embrace the unexpected and allow my imagination to run away with my paintbrush. I'm not a photo realist painter and my technical drawing skills aren't the best; the value in my paintings lies in th fact that they are created from a free and expressive place."
